Video – Active Shooter Training at Cobourg Collegiate Institute

In Police Blotter

A dramatic scene took place at Cobourg Collegiate Institute on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Thankfully it was all training.

Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service were at the school training involving the scenario of a active shooter at the school.

Police were notified shortly after 7 p.m. of a “active” shooter inside the school. Numerous casualties were reported and the first shots were heard around the area of the gymnasium.

Heavily armed officers (there was no live ammunition) entered the front entrance of the school searching for the suspect and victims.

Outside, members of the Cobourg Fire Department and St. John Ambulance stood by.

It wasn’t long before casualties were brought out on the west side of the school and at the front entrance where they were being triaged.

Some walking, some had to be carried out.

Previously police have said the type of training is invaluable and helps them work in collaboration with other emergency services.
