Update – Port Hope Police – Sudden Death Investigation

The Port Hope Police Service is providing an update following the sudden death investigation initiated on June 14, 2025, in the area of Bedford Street.

Emergency responders attended the scene after receiving a report of a missing elderly male. The individual was located in a body of water, behind a property with vital signs absent. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and paramedics, the male was pronounced deceased at Northumberland Hills Hospital.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

However, police do not believe foul play is involved and continue to treat this as an isolated incident.

There is no risk to public safety.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the identity of the deceased will not be released.
