Exclusive – Distraction Theft at Port Hope and Cobourg Shoppers Over the Weekend

Police are investigating after a distraction theft took place at Cobourg and Port Hope Shoppers over the weekend amounting to thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

The first incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Shopper in Port Hope.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2025 it’s believed the same suspects struck at the Cobourg Shoppers directly across from the Cobourg Police Station.

It’s believe four women entered the store wearing masks and while two women distracted the clerk, two other women took numerous items.

The thefts amounted to thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

Cobourg Police were notified of the incident on Sunday, but have yet to release any information.

Port Hope Police were notified of the incident on Monday and said a release will be issued on Tuesday.
