
A resident of Colborne is facing charges that include use of an imitation firearm as a result of an incident in the town of Colborne.
On May 11, 2025, shortly before 6:30 p.m., members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call where a male allegedly shot a BB gun at a number of young persons in the vicinity of a park on Rotary Centennial Drive.
Police arrived and spoke to the complainants who were uninjured. Officers began an investigation into the incident and arrested an individual matching the description provided.
As a result, a 44-year-old male, from Colborne has been charged with the following offences:
– Assault with a weapon – three counts
– Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose
– Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on May 12, 2025.
The OPP can advise that there is no threat to public safety and that this investigation is ongoing.
