Northumberland OPP – Fatal Collision Between Train and Pedestrian

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision between a train and a pedestrian.

On April 22, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., officers and emergency crews responded to a collision between a train and a pedestrian on Ontario Street, near Monck Street, in the Municipality of Brighton. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ontario Street between Monck Street and Butler Street was closed for several hours while the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, assisted with the investigation. The road reopened just after 5:00 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information, including dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122.
