Peterborough Police – Four People Charged with Impaired (No Names Released)

Impaired Arrest

A 17-year-old Curve Lake male is facing a number of charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 4:15am on April 12, 2025, officers were called to the area of White Crescent and Glenforest Boulevard after a report of a vehicle into a light pole. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle running and no one inside. Officers started searching the area and located two males in the parking lot of a nearby school.  In speaking with the two, the officers noticed signs of impairment.  Through further investigation it was learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from Curve Lake earlier in the evening.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Curve Lake male was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to remain (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 26, 2025.

The second male was released unconditionally

 

Impaired Arrest

A 21-year-old Peterborough man is facing a several charges after an incident Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 12:00pm on April 12, 2025, officers were called to the Raymond Street and Fairbairn Street area about a vehicle that had been driven erratically on grass shoulders, sidewalks and up and down curbs before become undrivable. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver and noticed signs of impairment.  During a search of the vehicle after arrest, officers located opened and unopened alcohol cans.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Careless driving (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available (Liquor License Control Act)
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)
  • Operate E-Bike or Vehicle on a Sidewalk or Downtown Sidewalk (Peterborough By-Law Active Transportation)
  • Operate a Vehicle Upon Land Owned by the City of Peterborough (Peterborough By-law Vehicle on City Land)

The accused was issued a 90-day automatic license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 20, 2025.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 34-year-old Janetville man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 10:30pm on April 12, 2025, officers were called about a possible impaired driver after a vehicle struck a parked vehicle. Shortly after arriving to the area of Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street, the driver approached police and during conversation signs of impairment were noticed.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Janetville man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 20, 2025.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 24-year-old Orono man is facing charges after a single vehicle crash in Cavan Monaghan early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:40am on April 13, 2025, officers were called by a passenger of the vehicle stating there had been a collision in the area of Maple Grove and Preston Road and that the driver had fled.  Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle in the ditch with the passenger who was not injured. Officers began searching the area and located a male matching the description given to police a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Orono man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court May 27, 2025.

 

Break and Enter Suspects Sought

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service are investigating after two break and enters were reported on the same street.

It’s believed the incidents happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 13, 2025.  The residents were in the homes at the time, and one reported seeing an unknown male in the residence at about 6:00am, but no one was injured.  Several items including bank cards were taken from one of the homes and used at several businesses in town, along with a video game system.
