Northumberland OPP – Suspect Charged with Stolen Vehicle (Name Released)

Members of the Northumberland and Quinte West Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered a stolen vehicle.

On March 24, 2025, at around 11:00 p.m., OPP received a report regarding a stolen pickup truck travelling on Highway 401 eastbound in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The vehicle was believed to have been stolen from an address in the Greater Toronto Area on the night of March 21, 2025.

Due to the direction of travel, Quinte West OPP were notified and a vehicle matching the description provided was stopped near Glen Miller Road where Northumberland officers assisted with the incident.

Police also entered an impaired operation investigation, and the accused was transported to a local detachment for further tests. A search revealed a small amount of suspected Cocaine.

Mcronald MPUNDU (age 22), of no fixed address, has been charged with:

– Poss ession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

– Failure or refusal to comply with demand

– Drive motor vehicle – no licence

– Fail to signal – lane change

– Fail to surrender insurance card.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
