Northumberland OPP – Trent Hills Man Charged with Speeding, Operate Vehicle No Insurance, Operation While Prohibited (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual for driving while prohibited.

On March 6, 2025, at around 3:20 p.m., an officer was conducting speed enforcement on Concession Road 13 when they observed a pickup truck travelling at 87 Km/h in a posted 50 Km/h limit. Police were then alerted by the in-car Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) regarding a suspended driver.

OPP then spoke to the motorist and confirmed them to be prohibited from driving.

As a result, Kenneth MACKAY (age 63) from Hastings, has been charged with:

– Speeding

– Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

– Operation while prohibited.

The vehicle was impounded for 180 days and the accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
