Cobourg Police – Three Drivers Charged with Impaired Over the Weekend (No Names Released)

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Trailsview Avenue and Trevor Street after receiving a report of possible impaired driving.

The driver failed an Approved Screening Device and was placed under arrest. The female was transported to the Cobourg Police Service for additional breath tests. As a result, the 28-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with Operation While impaired – over 80. The accused received a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, at approximately 12:55 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle driving
erratically northbound on Division Street. Police received a second call, reporting the vehicle entered a business parking lot, and the driver exited the vehicle and was visibly unsteady on his feet.

Police located the vehicle and the driver at the business and demanded the driver provide a sample of his breath into an approved screening device. The driver failed the Approved Screening Device and was placed under arrest. The male was transported to the Cobourg Police Service for additional breath tests.

As a result, the 39- year-old Cobourg man was charged with Operation While Impaired – over 80. The accused received a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

On Monday, February 24, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police conducting speed enforcement on Elgin Street West conducted a traffic stop for speeding.

While speaking with the driver, officers could smell an odour of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver advised police that he had smoked marijuana a few minutes prior.

As a result, the 36-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
