Update – Recapture of Inmates from Beaver Creek Institution

On February 20, 2025, inmates Jay Sedore and Michael Karas were apprehended by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) and Toronto Police Service.

These inmates had been unlawfully at large from the minimum-security unit at Beaver Creek Institution since February 19, 2025.

The Correctional Service of Canada and Beaver Creek Institution are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
