OPP and Peterborough Police Seize Large Quantities of Fentanyl and Cocaine (Name Released)

A Peterborough resident is facing drug-related charges following a joint investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Peterborough Police Service (PPS).

In the summer of 2024, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and PPS began an investigation into drug trafficking activity throughout Peterborough and the surrounding area.

On January 28, 2025, five search warrants were executed in Peterborough, Durham Region and York Region by members from OPP OCEB, Peterborough OPP, OPP Community Street Crime Units in City of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough County and Northumberland County, as well as PPS Emergency Response Team.

As a result, the investigative team seized the following items:

Approx. 1.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl

Approx. 1.6 kilograms of suspected cocaine

30 oxycodone tablets

More than $5,000 in Canadian currency

Eight cell phones

Digital scales

One laptop

Tirath ODEA, age 26 of Peterborough, has been charged with the following six offences under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

Possession of propert y obtained by crime

Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts

Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl – two counts

Possession for the purpose of trafficking – other opioid

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 10, 2025.
