Public Invited to Come Out and Support the 3rd Annual Travis Gillespie Memorial Hockey Tournament

The public is invited to come out and support the 3rd annual Travis Gillespie Memorial Hockey Tournament taking place on March 15, 2025 at the Keeler Centre in Colborne.
The tournament is named after Gillespie, who was a York Regional Police Officer who was killed in a head-on crash on September 14, 2022 while on his way to work.
Gillespie was born and grew up in Shilo and his dream was to be a police officer.
The first year of the tournament, $27,000 was raised.  Of which, $16,000 was donated to the Warkworth Minor Hockey Association.
Last year in Brighton, the tournament raised $34,000 and there was $20,000 donated to Brighton arena to support their wish list.
Both years there were $6,000 cheques donated to Hearts for Martial Arts to support youth’s experience MMA sports.
Money raised also sponsored youths from Warkworth, Brighton/ and Cold Creek Comets to help with their registration fees. The money will help two youths play per arena, over a three-year span.
There is a full schedule of teams for the day, but the public is welcome to come out and cheer the teams on and support the tournament.
Teams taking part include two teams from the York Regional Police along with Cramahe and Trent Hills Fire Department.
