In Police Blotter

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid another impaired driving charge in Hamilton Township.

On Friday January 17, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers observed a white sedan travelling northbound on Division Street at a rate of speed higher than the posted 50km/hr speed limit. The vehicle came into close proximity of the police cruiser that was turning southbound nearly causing a collision. Upon speaking with the driver police suspected the individual had been consuming alcohol. The officer administered a roadside screening device test, and the driver registered a ‘fail’. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a nearby police station where further testing was conducted.
