Update – Quinte West OPP – Five-Year-Old And 26-Year-Old Killed in Fatal Collision in Trenton

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate a head-on collision which left two people deceased.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, around 3:45 p.m., offic ers, firefighters and paramedics responded to the collision, involving a car and a pick-up truck, on Old Highway 2 near Quinte View Drive. The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from Stirling, and a passenger in car, a five (5)-year-old boy from the Quinte area, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the pick-up, aged 33 from Belleville, was transported to hospital by Hastings-Quinte Paramedics, with unknown injuries.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and an OPP Collision Reconstructionist are assisting Quinte West OPP with the investigation. Old Highway 2 was closed approximately 6 hours.
