Breaking News – Video – Driver Airlifted Following Collision on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Port Hope

One person was airlifted from the scene following a single vehicle collision on Highway 401 on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Northumberland OPP James Clarke said emergency services were dispatched around 10:50 a.m. to the westbound lanes of Highway 401, west of Toronto Road in the Municipality of Port Hope for a single vehicle rollover.

A vehicle was traveling westbound when it lost control went into the ditch, striking a number of trees.

The lone occupant was trapped in the vehicle which came to rest on its side.

The driver was extricated by Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services with the assistance of Northumberland County Paramedics.

Initially, the injuries were believed to be life-threatening and an air ambulance was called to the scene, landing on the highway.

It was determined the weren’t life threatening, but were serious and the person was transported to a trauma centre.

The westbound alnes of Highway 401 were re-opened at approximately noon.
