City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Peterborough Man Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle in the ditch on County Road 36.

On December 20, 2024, at 10:04 p.m., officers were dispatched after a motor vehicle had been located on County Road 36 in the ditch. Witnesses at the scene provided information that the driver of the vehicle had taken off on foot and was no longer at the scene. Responding officers located the driver a short distance away from the vehicle.

Through investigation, Claude Johnson, 45-year-old from Peterborough was arrested and charged with

– Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.
