Breaking News – Durham Regional Police – Quebec Resident Charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Death (Name Released)

An unidentified female was fatally injured after a vehicle she was riding in lost control and left the roadway in Pickering.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., members from West Division responded to a collision involving a rolled over vehicle on Brock Road near Mowbray Street. A black 2018 Audi sedan was southbound on Brock Road when it lost control, left the roadway and struck a large tree. The vehicle had four occupants onboard and was driven by a 20-year-old male from Quebec. Two of the occupants were ejected during the collision and rollover.

One of the occupants, a yet to be identified female, aged 18-22, was ejected and fatally injured as a result of the collision. Police are currently attempting to identify the female.

The other two occupants were transported to a Toronto-area trauma center. They are currently listed in serious but stable condition.

The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle, who also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was later arrested for numerous offences.

Sohaib Abdallah LOUNES, age 20 from Quebec is charged with: Dangerous Operation Causing Death, Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm x2, Possession of Electronic Device for the Purpose of Committing Motor Vehicle Theft, and Possession of Break-and-Enter Instruments.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch – Collision Investigation Unit (CIU), attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
