Cobourg Police – Traffic Ticket Text Scam

The Cobourg Police have received complaints from residents who are receiving text messages indicating that their “vehicle was detected exceeding the speed limit and a ticket has been issued.” A link to click for more details is attached to the text.

Police caution against clicking on any links in these messages, as they could lead to fraudulent activities,
malware or viruses. With changes in delivery methods, residents are reminded to verify the authenticity of any communication from official sources and refrain from sharing personal information or clicking on suspicious links or websites.
