Northumberland OPP – Close Call for Motorists After Vehicle Travels Wrong Way on Highway 401

A close call for motorists traveling on Highway 401 on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Northumberland OPP started receiving numerous calls of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 around the Grafton area.

Police say they received “numerous” calls of a vehicle traveling along the median shoulder around the Grafton area.

The vehicle drove approximately 11-kilometres where it was stopped by police just west of Colborne.

The 89-year-old driver was assessed by Northumberland County Paramedics.
