Northumberland OPP – Collision Involving Train in Brighton

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an incident involving a train and a pedestrian.

On December 2, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., emergency services responded to the collision which occurred in the area of the train tracks on Huff Road in Brighton.

As a result of the collision, a 28-year-old from the Municipality of Brighton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Foul play is not suspected.

Police are continuing the investigation into the circumstances regarding the incident and are assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification Services (IDENT).

The roadway in the area was closed until approximately 1:00 a.m., on December 3, 2024, to allow for a thorough and proper investigation. The Northumberland OPP would like to thank the public for their patience during this time period.
