Breaking News – Person Charged with Attempted Murder After Shooting in Cramahe Township (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an attempted murder in the Township of Cramahe.

On November 13, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the Northumberland OPP were called to a residence on Mitchell Road in relation to a dropped 9-1-1 call. One person was located with serious injuries and transported to a hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

As a result of the investigation, Katlyn ATKINSON, 34 years old of Northumberland County, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, contrary to section 289(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on November 19, 2024.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety. As the investigation is in its early stages, no further details will be released at th is time.

The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services, Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, and Canine Unit.
