Northumberland OPP – Roseneath Man Charged with Careless Driving Causing Death (No Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver following a two-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

On August 8, 2024, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department and OPP responded to a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a motorcycle in the area of County Road 45 and Broadworth Road.

The 18-year-old motorcycle rider from Hastings was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. There were no reported injuries to the driver of the other vehicle.

OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) members and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

As a result, A 62-year-old, male from Roseneath, has been charged with:

–  Careless driving causing death.

The individual is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
