Cobourg Police – Two Cobourg Residents Charged with Assault, Robbery, Forcible Confinement (Names Released)

Two Cobourg residents have been arrested in an ongoing assault investigation.

On the evening of Thursday, October 24, 2024, police commenced an investigation regarding an assault that had occurred earlier in the week. Police received information that a group of individuals assaulted a victim at a residence in the area of John Street and James Street in Cobourg. During the assault, the victim’s identification and bank card were taken.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Patrick BASSINGER, a 43-year-old Cobourg man and Jessica BAITLEY, a 32-year-old Cobourg woman. Both were charged with the following offences:

1. Assault causing bodily harm

2. Robbery with violence

3. Forcible confinement

Both accused were held for a bail hearing later today.

The investigation is ongoing, and police anticipate there will be further arrests.
