“Protect Brookside – Act Now” Event Being Hosted by Cobourg and East Northumberland Branch of the ACO

The Cobourg and East Northumberland Branch of the ACO is hosting an event about the future of Brookside.

The event is called “Protect Brookside: Act Now” and is being held on October 30 at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Hall located at 232 Spencer Street East in Cobourg.

The former Brookside Youth Centre is has over 30-acres of property featuring three historic structures and, “faces an uncertain future.”

“Allegations about a sale and development plans threaten to erase its charm and significance – something Cobourg can’t afford to loose.”

The public forum will feature Cobourg historian and author Rob Mikel speaking on the history, landscape and architecture on the property.

Discussions will involve the

· rumoured development proposals the ACO has heard about

· learn what other communities have done in similar situations

· learn how voices of the communities can shape the future of the property post encampment.
