Four Arrested After Theft of $250,000 of Jewelry from Airbnb in Bowmanville

Three males and one female are facing charges after stealing over $250,000 worth of jewelry from an Airbnb in Bowmanville.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of East Division responded to a theft call in the area of Cove Road and West Beach Road. Three males and one female reserved an Airbnb for the evening of Thursday, October 10, 2024. When the four guests departed the following morning, the owner returned and saw that over $250,000 worth of jewelry was missing. Police searched the area and located the suspects, who were all taken into custody without incident. The jewelry was located in the possession of the suspects.

Nicole Bobbi HERDSMAN, age 35 of No Fixed Address is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Theft Over $5000, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine).

Marc Dominique NICHOLAS, age 41 from Clarington is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Theft Over $5000.

Roderick Richard AYRE, age 37 from Oshawa is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Theft Over $5000.

John WEIR, age 38 from Clarington is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Theft Over $5000, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine).

HERDSMAN, NICHOLAS, and WEIR were released on an Undertaking. AYRE was held for a bail hearing.
