On Friday, October 11, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., members from Central West Division were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a pick-up truck at the intersection of Rossland Road E and Fencerow Drive in Whitby. A Dodge Ram Pick-up being operated by a 65-year-old male from Oshawa was eastbound on Rossland Road East approaching Fencerow Drive when he crossed over multiple lanes and mounted the curb on the northeast corner. The driver continued east on the boulevard and then struck two bell boxes before crashing through two fences, coming to rest in a pool in the rear of a residence on Ravenview Drive.

The 28-year-old pedestrian suffered serious life-threatening injuries. He was transported by ambulance to a trauma area hospital in Toronto where he remains with serious potentially life-threatening injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene and investigated the circumstances of the incident. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.
