Northumberland OPP – Driver Charged with Impaired and Stunt Driving (Name Released)

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation and stunt driving.

On October 9, 2024, at approximately 11:25 p.m., OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Hamilton. An officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed of 167 Km/h in a posted 110 Km/h speed limit.

The vehicle was stopped and following speaking to the driver, police made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resiling in a fail at which point they were arrested.

Charles MACMILLAN, 56-years-old, from Toronto, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed .

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. Their driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven.

The OPP is committed to reducing and preventing injuries on roads, highways, waterways, and trails, while enhancing safety for motorists and all other road users through public education and enforcement.
