Cobourg Police – Two Residents Face Impaired Charges (No Names Released)

On Friday, September 13, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Division Street and Kerr Street in the Town of Cobourg for a single motor vehicle collision. No injuries were reported. As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old Cobourg man was charged with operating with over 80 mgs of alcohol, careless driving, and driving without a licence.

The accused was released with a future court date.

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., police were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Elgin Street and Strathy Road in the Town of Cobourg. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was showing signs of impairment by alcohol. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Operating with over 80 mgs of alcohol.

The accused was released with a future court date.

Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911. Impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death and injury in Canada, yet every impaired driving crash is preventable. By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to the police, everyone can play a role in keeping roads and waterways safe.
