Northumberland OPP – Hamilton Township Youth Charged with Assault, Assault Police

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a youth with assault.

On August 26, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., police responded to a call for service regarding a dispute at a residence in Hamilton Township. Officers arrived and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were further called to the location by police. The victim had sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The accused had left prior to the arrival of OPP but returned in the early hours of August 27, 2024 when they was arrested and taken into custody. During the arrest, the individual spat at police. There were no injuries to officers.

A 15-year-old, from the Township of Hamilton, has been charged with:

–       Assault

–       Assault peace officer

The accused was held for bail to ap pear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg and they shall not be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
