Northumberland OPP – Two Stolen Vehicles Recovered Within An Hour

Officers the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered two stolen vehicles in unrelated incidents.

On August 6, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m, police received a complaint from a member of the public regarding an abandoned passenger vehicle on Bay Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Officers attended the location and confirmed the unoccupied vehicle had been stolen and reported to a neighboring police service on July 29, 2024. The vehicle was recovered and transferred to the investigating service.

On the same evening at approximately 9:15 p.m., an officer was on patrol on King Street East in the Township of Cramahe when they received an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) notification regarding a stolen vehicle. The passenger vehicle was confirmed to be recently stolen and police then observed the driver park the vehicle, exit and walk away from officers whe n they attempted to communicate.

As a result, Katherine DE JESUS, 47-years-old, from Grimsby, was arrested and charged with:

–      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

–      Drive motor vehicle – no licence.

The vehicle was recovered and the accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
