Northumberland OPP – Oshawa Man Facing Impaired Charge (Name Released)

In Police Blotter

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a person with impaired operation.
On July 9, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch in the vicinity of Rolling Banks Road and Robins Road in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.

Officers arrived and began an investigation into the cause of the collision and subsequently arrested the driver. The individual was transported to a local detachment for further testing. There were no injuries reported.

Graham HALSEY, 64-years-old, from Oshawa, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage.

A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
