Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Assault, Mischief, Weapons Dangerous, Fail to Comply

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 106 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 03, 2024 to 5:00 am on July 04, 2024.

Assault, Mischief and Fail to Comply with Probation Order
On the 3rd of July at 1:15pm, Belleville Police responded to the area of Bell Blvd and the Quinte Mall for a report of a female who was trespassing. Police attended the area and located the female who had departed the property. While speaking to the female, she became agitated and started throwing pine cones at one of the officers so in an effort to de-escalate the situation, officers departed. One officer remained in the area keeping an eye on the female. The female then proceeded to throw rocks at passing vehicles and assaulted a female who was walking nearby. No injuries were reported. The officer immediately attended to the female and placed her under arrest. While in the back of the police cruiser, the female then damaged equipment which was installed in the cruiser. As a result of the incident, the 42-year-old female of no fixed address was charged with assault, mischief under $5000 and failing to comply with her Probation Order. She was held for a bail hearing.

Disturbance leads to arrest on warrant
On the 3rd of July at 1:55pm, Belleville Police responded to the area of College Street East and Cannifton Road regarding a female who was causing a disturbance and throwing bottles at children while walking down the street. Police attended the area and located 52-year-old Tamara Dentstedt of Belleville who was known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court held by the Belleville Police Service. Dentstedt was arrested on the strength of the arrest warrant and transported to the Belleville Police Service where she is being held for bail.

Arrested on Warrant
On the 3rd of July at 3:10pm, Belleville Police attended the area of Parker Street and Wellington Street for a report of two people sleeping in a children’s play area. Police located the two individuals, one male and one female and learned that the 35-year-old Belleville male, Nathan Irwin, was wanted on an arrest warrant held by the Belleville Police Service for Break and Enter and Mischief Under $5000. Irwin was arrested on the strength of the warrant and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail.

Arrested for Causing a Disturbance and Weapons Dangerous
On the 3rd of July at 3:28pm, Belleville Police attended the area of Front Street and Bridge Street East for a report of a male running around with a knife and threatening people. Police quickly located and arrested the suspect without incident. Following the police investigation, the 44-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose to the public and causing a disturbance. He was held for a bail hearing.

Theft and Breach of Probation
On the 3rd of July at 10:56am, Belleville Police attended the area of Albert Street and Bridge Street East for a report of a stolen bicycle. An investigation ensued and a suspect was identified with the assistance of nearby CCTV video. The bicycle and the suspect were located in the area of Bridge Street East and Church Street. The 52-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000 and three counts of failing to comply with his Probation Order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. The bicycle was returned to the owner.
