Darrell Toms Officially Sworn in as Ward 2 Councillor for the Municipality of Port Hope

In City Hall

At a Special Council Meeting held last night, newly elected Councillor Darrell Toms took the Oath of Office, officially joining Council for the Municipality of Port Hope, representing Ward 2.

“I am looking forward to working with my rural neighbours and being your voice on Council,” notes Councillor Toms, who was voted in by his constituents in the recent Ward 2 By-election held on June 6.

At the meeting, Councillor Toms gave a short address to the community where he thanked his supporters and shared that he is happy to be sitting alongside his fellow councillors.

Each member of the Council also shared brief remarks to welcome Councillor Toms and congratulate him on his recent by-election victory. Mayor Olena Hankivsky expressed, “We’re really looking forward to working with you, and each and every one of us is here to support you. Our doors are always open, and we hope to make the transition as smooth as possible.”

Councillor Toms joins the Municipality of Port Hope Council following the resignation of Chris Collins in January 2024, when Mr. Collins was appointed a Justice of the Peace for Ontario.

Councillor Toms will serve for the remainder of the Council term, which ends in 2026.
