FATAL COLLISION CLOSES HIGHWAY 115
Charges Laid Against Second Occupant
Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in relation to a single motor vehicle collision that occurred in December of 2023.
On December 6, 2023, the Peterborough County OPP received a call relating to a vehicle that had gone off the road and crashed into the centre median of Highway 115 at Highway 7A. As a result of the collision, a 34-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene and a second individual in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Highway 115 remained closed in both directions for several hours to allow the scene to be properly documented and evidence gathered.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the second individual due to an allegation of them being the driver and not the passenger as they had initially claimed.
On May 15, 2024, OPP officers became aware that the wanted person was driving a vehicle in the city of Peterborough. Officers located the vehicle and observed the driver and passenger switch seats. Officers spoke with the driver who was now located in the passenger seat and identified them as the wanted person.
