Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Mischief

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 97 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 16, 2024 to 5:00 am on May 17, 2024.

Mischief
On the 16th of May at 11:00am, Belleville Police responded to an apartment complex on Haig Road for a report of mischief. Upon arrival, police learned that sometime overnight unknown persons poured white paint on two separate entrances into the building including the main lobby causing considerable damage. Police Assistance
On the 17th of May at 2:01am, Belleville Police responded to a call of an injured female on Front St. When police arrived, the 20-year-old female from Belleville was found to be conscious and breathing with a towel wrapped around her head. Police began an investigation into the female’s injuries and learned that she was suffering from a mental health crisis and jumped off a third story balcony. The female was transported to Kingston General Hospital by ambulance. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, police do not believe there is any criminality to the incident.
Anyone in crisis is encouraged to call the “211 Helpline” which is free, confidential and staffed 24/7 for assistance. A further available local resource is the “Crisis Intervention Centre” 24-Hour Telephone Counselling at 1-888-757-7766 or 613-969-7400 ext. 2753 where a team of crisis workers are able to respond to crisis calls and offer emergency mental health intervention including short-term crisis resolution assessments and referrals.
