Update – Cobourg Police – Cobourg Resident Arrested for Assault (Name Released)

Since May 1, 2024, the 2024 Downtown Action Plan comprises a series of proactive crime prevention measures alongside ongoing harm reduction programs. Enforcement of laws and regulations will be a critical focus, particularly in interactions requiring direct intervention due to specific actions or behaviors of individuals.

The Cobourg Police Service previously reported that at approximately 9:30 am, on Tuesday the 7th day of May 2024, Officers were requested to attend the area of King Street East at Brook Road North (encampment) in the Town of Cobourg for a report of an assault.

Police Investigation determined that after a brief verbal altercation the accused struck the victim, took his glasses and threw them. The victim was not injured.

As a result of subsequent Police investigation, 41-year-old Jennifer FRENKE of Cobourg was arrested and transported the station. She was charged with assault and released with a court date of June 19th, 2024.
