Video – Vehicle Discovered Submerged in Trent Canal in Campbellford

In Editor Choice, Police Blotter

A couple walking along the Trent Canal on Sunday afternoon discovered an unusual site.

The couple was walking along the east side of the canal on Trent Drive, just north of Parkview Blvd when they saw what appeared to be a submerged vehicle in the canal with the trunk open shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene and confirmed it was a vehicle in the water.

A number of people stood along both sides of the canal watching the vehicle being removed from the water.

It’s believed the vehicle hadn’t been in the canal for a long period of time.

No one was found inside the vehicle which was loaded onto a flatbed and removed from the scene.

Northumberland OPP said the investigation is continuing.
