Quinte West OPP – Arrest Made Following Numerous False 911 Calls (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following several months worth of unsubstantiated calls to 911.

On March 19, 2024, Quinte West OPP with the assistance of the Quinte West Crime Unit arrested one male following an extensive investigation into unsubstantiated calls to 911. The investigation started in late October 2023 and continued into Mar ch 2024 regarding unfounded emergency calls to 911. Quinte West Fire Services, Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services and Quinte West OPP all responded to numerous emergency calls that were deemed not legitimate.

Donald HAWKINS, 24 years old from Quinte West, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Public Mischief – 14 counts
  • Mischief – seven counts

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville and has since been released.
