Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Facing Numerous Drug Charges (Name Released)

A Cobourg woman has been arrested in an ongoing police investigation into illegal drug activity in the Town of Cobourg.

In the winter of 2024, as part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting Northumberland County and the safety of citizens, members of the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) commenced an investigation with the assistance of the Port Hope Police Service (PHPS) CIB. Police received information that alleged a Cobourg resident was trafficking illicit drugs in the Town of Cobourg and the surrounding areas.

On March 21, 2024, CPS and PHPS CIB arrested the female driver of a vehicle in the area of Toronto Road and Victoria Street in the Municipality of Port Hope.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 100 grams of fentanyl, 40 grams of cocaine, 28 grams of methamphetamine, 4 grams of (MDMA) ecstasy and a quantity of hydromorphone pills.

As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Stacey WATSON, of Cobourg was charged with:
1. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

3. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

4. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Ecstasy) for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

5. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Hydromorphone) for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

6. Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code

7. Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $47,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 22nd , 2024.
