Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Impaired, Fail to Comply, Mischief, Uttering Threats (No Name Released)

A 26-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police conducted a traffic stop on Thursday night.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 10:15 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Division Street and Elgin Street after observing a vehicle without licence plates.

Investigation revealed that the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle and displayed signs of impairment. As a result, the 26-year-old Cobourg man was arrested. While in custody, the accused caused mischief by repeatedly spitting in the interior of the police vehicle, causing it to be taken out of service.

The accused is charged with failure to comply with an undertaking, operation while impaired, mischief – rendering property inoperative, uttering threats, driving with no plates, and operating an unsafe vehicle.

The accused was held for a bail hearing on Friday, March 1, 2024.
