Belleville Police – Investigation Leads to Fraud and Public Mischief Charges

In Police Blotter

On the 14th of February at 1:30am, Belleville Police began an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle owner claimed that his vehicle had been stolen from a north-end business parking lot sometime in the previous few hours.

As the investigation continued it was revealed that the vehicle was not stolen and that the vehicle owner had initiated a false police investigation with the intention of committing insurance fraud.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Karanvir Singh of Belleville was charged with Fraud over $5000 and Public Mischief.

Singh was released on an Undertaking with a court date in March.
