The Rotary Club of Cobourg invites you to step back in time – say, about 100 years – to the Roaring Twenties at their SpeakEasy fundraiser on Feb. 2.

At 6 p.m., you’ll find The Mill Restaurant completely transformed into a Prohibition-era bar experience, right down to the password required to get through the secret door. Inside, you’ll find all the glamour and elegance of the Flapper Era as the evening unfolds with a gourmet menu prepared by Prep Food Co (along with two other professional chefs).

Check out the gourmet delights at the soup station, charcuterie buffet and dessert station (complete with chocolate fountain). There will be different foods served at all three levels of this unique venue, so enjoy the mingling and fun as you sample them all.

Specialty cocktails include the Satin Doll Martini, the Old Fashioned and the Mary Pickford Cocktail – a nod to a great old movie star immortalized in Cobourg’s own Canadian Women In Film Museum.

And other fun prohibition experiences include Rotary Getaway Raffle tickets (with the draw to be made during the evening) and a silent auction with a wonderful variety of items to bid on.

Organizing committee chair Beth Selby called the event “an exciting new fundraiser for our community.

“The organizing committee has been working tirelessly for months to make this event a huge success.”

Mission accomplished – only 200 tickets were available, and they’re going fast.

Ticket prices are $150 plus HST, available at www.cobourgrotary.ca/events.

Raffle tickets are also available at $100 plus HST, and the exciting prizes include a $5,000 travel voucher, a $1,500 Visa Gift Card and a $750 Via Rail gift card. Get your tickets at https://rotary-club-of-cobourg.square.site or The Rotary Club of Cobourg has been dedicated to raising funds and serving the community for more than a century, and proceeds from the Rotary SpeakEasy will support Habitat For Humanity Northumberland and other community projects.
