Cobourg 2024 Fee Changes for Downtown Parking and Transit Fares

In City Hall

The Town of Cobourg would like to remind all residents and visitors of the scheduled fee increases for downtown parking and transit fares, effective on January 1, 2024.

Downtown Parking Rate Changes
Council approved a phased downtown parking rate increase over three years. In 2024, the downtown parking options and rates will be:

• Downtown On-Street Parking Rate – $2.25/hour (increase of $0.50/hour)

• 30-day pass – $35/month (increase of $5/month)

• Daily Pass – $10/day (increase of $2/day)

• Waterfront Rate – no rate increase.

Prior to this change, downtown parking rates had remained $1 per hour since 2014. The first increase was implemented on May 20, 2022, when the hourly rate went up from $1 to $1.25.
Another 50-cent took place on January 1, 2023. On January 1, 2024, the final approved increase of 50-cents, or a total of $2.25 per hour for downtown parking, will take place.

Downtown Monthly Accessible Parking Permit
In 2022, the Town introduced a monthly accessible parking permit, valid for on-street parking or in downtown municipal lots.
To be eligible to obtain a Downtown Monthly Accessible Parking Permit, a photo of a valid Ontario issued Accessible Permit must be uploaded/shown at the time of purchase. Accessible
parking permits cost the same as the downtown parking passes.

Those who do not have a monthly accessible parking permit must pay for usage at the Town of Cobourg accessible parking spots.

Cobourg Transit Fee Change
In 2022, the Town of Cobourg commenced an incremental increase to transit fares, to offset operating expenses associated with the transit system. Prior to 2022, there had been no
changes to transit fees in more than 15 years.

For 2024, the cash fare for Transit will increase by $0.25 to $2.50. The 30-Day Transit passes in 2024 will be priced as follows:

• Adult – $65/month ($2.50 increase)

• Senior – $48.75/month ($6.25 increase)

• Student – $48.75/month (no increase)
