Cobourg Council Prepares for a New Structure in the New Year

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith Today`s Northumberland
Cobourg council will start the new year with a new meeting structure.

The old rotating regular and committee-of-the-whole meeting structure will change to a standing committee structure, each month bringing a regular council meeting that will follow (by about three weeks) meetings of the four standing committees (all of which will take place in the same week).

Strategic Priorities and Policy committee will meet on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Public Works, Planning and Development will meet Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

Community Services, Protection and Economic Development will meet Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Corporate, Finance and Legislative will meet Thursday at 1 p.m.

The regular council session will move, after many years, from Monday to Wednesday, with the 6 p.m. starting time remaining. And a week prior to council, a public planning meeting will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m.

And no meetings – unless called by the Head of Council – will be held during July, August and the last two weeks in December.
