The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce the appointment of Candice White as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Ms. White brings an extensive knowledge of municipal government and a history of positive results in the areas of asset management, economic development, financial management, and operational efficiencies, most recently as CAO/Clerk/Treasurer with the Township of Asphodel-Norwood.
“I am very excited to welcome Candice to Port Hope. She has a unique and extensive blend of municipal experience, including 7 years as a CAO,” notes Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “Her talents, skills, abilities, and demonstrated commitment to creative and results oriented decision making, will make her an invaluable addition to our team.”
Ms. White brings strong municipal government experience, successfully holding senior administrative roles resulting in a wealth of knowledge in public policy, project management, and stakeholder relations.
In her current role as CAO/Clerk/Treasurer of the Township of Asphodel-Norwood, Ms. White has played an integral part in implementing planning approaches and policies that support a well-rounded community, with projects that include recreation, green space, connectivity, infrastructure, and healthcare.
“I am honoured to be joining the Port Hope team in the role of CAO,” states Ms. White. “Port Hope is an incredible community and I’m excited to have the opportunity to support the dedicated Council and staff in the fulfillment of its priorities to the residents.”
The CAO selection process included Council and staff supports working with Feldman Daxon Partners Inc. to lead the recruitment and selection process for the position.
“I know Candice will work well with our Council and provide strong and supportive leadership to our staff,” adds Mayor Hankivsky. “I am especially proud that with this appointment, we are making history. Candice will be the first woman officially appointed as CAO of the Municipality of Port Hope.”
The CAO, reporting directly to Council, is a leader who oversees the business affairs of the municipality and its employees, in accordance with legislation, corporate policies, and the Strategic Plan.
The CAO also ensures that Council approved municipal services are delivered efficiently and effectively while working towards continuous improvement.
