Monday’s Cobourg council meeting was the first one for the town’s newest staff member, as Adam Giddings begins taking over as Director of Corporate Services and Treasurer as incumbent Ian Davey prepares for retirement.

“We are so incredibly fortunate to have Ian staying with us until the end of October,” Chief Administrative Officer Tracey Vaughan said.

The process of finding Davey’s replacement began in July, Vaughan said, seeking “someone with great leadership experience, critical thinking, problem solving as well as someone who would bring a breadth and wealth of energy and experience to the leadership team.

“We are super-happy Adam Giddings has accepted the position.”

Giddings comes to Victoria Hall from Lakefront Utility Services Inc., where he was in charge of overseeing both capital and operating budgets, as well as financial and regulatory reporting, and also overseeing IT, cybersecurity and the customer-service division.

Giddings is a chartered accountant and a Queen’s University graduate.

“He sets a very high standard for excellence,” Vaughan said.

“We are, of course, sad to see Ian go, but so happy to watch him take on his next journey in retirement.”
