Two males face numerous charges following a shooting in Newtonville that injured one victim.
On Saturday September 9, 2023, members of East Division responded to a residence in Newtonville after it was reported that a male had attended a residence and discharged a firearm. The male then fled the area in a Red Ford pickup truck.
Through further investigation, a victim was located with a gunshot wound, however was uncooperative with police. Search warrants were sought and executed on September 10, 2023, for a vehicle and two residences by members of the Durham Regional Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police Biker Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the DRPS Gun and Gang Unit and Tactical Support Unit. This resulted in the seizure of 13 firearms, two over capacity magazines and ammunition.
Anthony PSILOPOULOS, age 38, of Clarington is charged with Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding Licence, Discharge Firearm into Place Reckless to Others, Possession Contrary to Order, Fail to Comply with Release Order, Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
The Biker Enforcement Unit was involved as Anthony PSILOPOULOS is a Prospect of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.
Darryl KERSWELL, age 51, of Newtonville is charged with Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding Licence, Unlicenced Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Prohibited/Restricted, Careless Storage of Firearm.
