Update – Charges Withdrawn in OPP and Cobourg Police Drug Investigations

Charges against all parties were dropped in Cobourg Provincial Court regarding a search warrant in December 2021.

Benjamin Staples, 43, Richard Staples, 68, Diane Staples, 71, and Christopher Morris, 41, all of Cobourg, were arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The charges stemmed from a search warrant at a residence in Cobourg.

The last of the charges were withdrawn earlier in August.

All charges against all the people charged have been withdrawn in April 2022, court documents show.

Benjamin Staples, 43, was also charged in November 2021, with possess fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possess cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, fail to comply with undertaking,

possess crystal meth for purpose of trafficking and possess methadone for purpose of trafficking.

All charges were withdrawn in Cobourg Court on August 2, 2023 court documents show.
