Cobourg Police – Theft from Vehicles

In Police Blotter

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS) reminds residents to protect their vehicles from theft after three vehicles are entered overnight in the Town of Cobourg.

Theft from vehicles are usually thefts of opportunity. Someone trying door handles will enter unlocked parked vehicles and steal anything of value. On rare occasions, a thief may smash a window or cause damage to get into a locked vehicle, especially if something of value can be seen from the outside.

Police recommend that residents remove valuables (wallets, sunglasses, electronics, tools, change etc.) from their vehicles and lock the doors every time they exit them.

Ensure home surveillance systems are in good working order and report suspicious activity to the police.

Please report suspicious activity or theft from a vehicle by calling 905-372-6821 during business hours or online at cobourgpoliceservice.com/online-reporting/. To leave a tip anonymously with Crime Stoppers visit www.stopcrimehere.ca or call 1-800-222-TIPS.

If you are in an emergency or witness a crime, please call 9-1-1.

(Editors Note – the press release didn’t mention what part of town the thefts occurred)
