Quinte West OPP – Driver Charged with Impaired

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On July 8, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Old Highway 2, Quinte West, after observing a traffic violation. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

John STEWART, 74 years old from Prince Edward County, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol or drugs
  • Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 2, 2023. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.
